Ministries

Annual Bible Conferences:

The ABA enjoys a Bible Conference every year hosted by one of the churches or hosted by its camp, Higher Ground Baptist Bible Camp.  It is a conference for pastors and lay people alike with an emphasis on God’s Word and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Camp Ministry for all ages:

In 1965 the Alaska Baptist Association saw the need for a fundamental Baptist camping ministry for their churches and started Kachemak Bay Baptist Bible Camp in Homer, AK.  In 1974 the association purchased property that was more centrally located and moved the camp to Sterling and renamed it Higher Ground Baptist Bible Camp.  Today the camp remains on this 154-acre property located near Soldotna in the center of the Kenai Peninsula.

Through the years Higher Ground has grown and added programs and a full-time director.  Higher Ground remains committed to the original vision of the founding churches of presenting Christ to the lost and helping individuals grow spiritually.  This is accomplished through summer camps and adult retreats.  As Higher Ground continues to grow, we are adding new programs and facilities to more effectively minister to people.

Retreats

Throughout the year, spiritually focused retreats are organized for adult Men and Women.  These times of refreshing are always a blessing!  Whether it is the Ladies’ or Men’s Retreat, Crafter’s Retreats, everyone always comes away with a renewed energy to serve the Lord.
